book-keeping

I'm keeping a mental count of how often I hear someone talk about 'facebook'. So far it's been at least once a day for the last three days! I'm going to see how long this goes for before the series is broken. At about 9pm this evening, I was at a dinner party and realised that I hadn't heard the word 'facebook' once today. I thought to tell the other guests how amazed I was about this fact but I decided to wait out the evening and see if it would get a mention without me bringing it up and sure enough, it came up! Even on Monday when I was home all day and didn't interact with many people, it was on the news. Let's see how long this goes for...

Disclaimer: I don't have anything against facebook - I'm just not on it myself cause I don't need anymore distractions in my life :)

Other random thoughts related to technology:

  • 'google' is a verb
  • 'email' is in spellcheck ( I remember a time when it wasn't)

yeah, stay away from facebook. I think I told you, I signed up for it w/o knowing what I was getting myself into and it got out of control in just a few days... and I haven't even posted anything myself!

Ah facebook is great. It is useful, fun, educational, inspirational. I am sure when the internet / email first started, people said 'it is out of control', but now it just part of every day life.

Wow - everyone is talking about Facebook, aren't they??? I guess I should join. One person told me it is a bit out of control, but everyone else says it is great. I guess I should sign up and find out what everyone is talking about.

我爱‘Facebook'. 在中国,没有很多人用 'Facebook', 因为我的国家落后。

You are not on Facebook???!?!??!??!?! That is hard to believe. Anybody who is anybody is on facebook!

Facebook is not a distraction. It is a useful tool. And people are not obsessed with it at all - for example I spent nearly half of yesterday not thinking or working with Facebook!

Wow - this is such a popular BLOG. Way to go Melinda for bringing up such a great subject for us all to discuss - FACEBOOK. This blog is so popular, it almost reminds me of how popular FACEBOOK is!

FACEBOOK is the best. I am considering getting rid of my dog since I really don't need it any more, now that I have facebook, man's best friend.

Facebook is the solution to gross incompetency. Those who use FACEBOOK would never be grossly imcompetent.

Hey everyone (Everyone except Melinda that is!), come join the fun in the 'Get Melinda Mui onto Facebook' group. There are already seven people in the group, and we are planning a party next week. It should be fun!!!! Come bring and download your photos. The photos available to all group members is steadily growing. I personally like one with her up in the air the best. Hey, and have you noticed all the bloggers on the site???? Really a popular group!

So, Melinda, you said, back in August:

"Disclaimer: I don't have anything against facebook - I'm just not on it myself cause I don't need anymore distractions in my life :)"

But now, in October, I do a survey of my 31 Facebook friends and find that you are the leading female for loading applications, with 17!!

Admittedly, there are five geeky males ahead of you with 18-22 applications, but for such a determined prophet of doom, it looks like you were right: you are doomed to Facebookosis.
